Re: How to direct key events to a specific window?

Actiona will serve that requirement. To add to your form entry automation experiments you might try sikuli.

Re: How to direct key events to a specific window?

But it seems that the script gets executed only once - when I press the Execute button. If the test script only minimises a window then the basic script is finished. Job done. No need to keep active or looping looking for an event. i rarely use loops since each execution of a script performs part o...

Re: How to direct key events to a specific window?

I too have used devilspie2 and xdotool. In fact you can run a command in Actiona to run an xdotool command if you wish. This sometimes reduces the number of key commands. Q. Is there a way to replace devilspie2? (Is Actiona able to match window titles?) Yes. Actiona can match window titles. Add a Wi...

Re: How to direct key events to a specific window?

It is not clear to me where devilspie2 fits into your workflow. It offers some similar features to Actiona. Why is it needed?
Can you not use the Window action in Actiona to focus on a window?

Idea: use Actiona as front end to Google Sheets

I share this idea. Instead of writing multiple code boxes in an Actiona script I am now exploring the route of importing scripts from Google Sheets. First a personal Google email account needs to be setup to access Google Drive. Create a Google spreadsheet with tables. A table might hold a series of...

Re: Open .xlsx from Detached Command

I am not a Windows user but any command in the Command box should be just the name of the application which can be opened in normal CLI (without arguments).

for example EXCEL

Or you can create an alias to launch a local application.

Re: Change Execution Window mid-running

I ask because I rarely, if ever, use the execution window.

[Later note] You are aware that in Settings there are 9 preset static locations for Execution window
and you can choose a second screen if you have one?

Another option (other than Window Move) is to put the Execution window into background.

Re: Change Execution Window mid-running

I don't know why you need to move the execution window but I ran a test. Opened a simple message box with execution window open. In my Ubuntu command line I ran devilspie to grab information. There must be an equivalent tool in Windows. ~ devilspie Window Title: 'Actiona'; Application Name: 'Actiona...

Re: external procedures

Currently Actiona does not allow multiple sessions. One hack I have tried for similar problems is cloning copies of actiona and actexec binaries held in /usr/bin /usr/bin/actiona /usr/bin/actexec /usr/bin/actiona-x /usr/bin/actexec-x Then from a running session of actiona or actexec the cloned binar...

Re: Is it possible to see the code/syntax?

One easy method is to click through .. File > Export > Script content However there is no styling of syntax. A method I prefer is to open the *.ascr script using XMLCopyEditor. http://xml-copy-editor.sourceforge.net/ For some scenarios you can also parse the xml (*.ascr) file using python xml.etree ...

Further testing .. I see that each module can read INI file where global vars
are held in ini file.

passing vars in a chain of actexec -s and -c calls

I am experimenting with a modular approach to running a chain of Actiona scripts (like python modules). Following the structure of a python script I start with a main script main.ascr In there I write a chain of calls to scripts by running actexec -s /lib/script.ascr This leads to a list of command ...

Re: new to actiona / order processing

You do not explain what “order forms” you are trying to automate (if that is what you are attempting). And it helps others to know which OS. Probably Windows but I, for one, use Linux. Let us assume that the order form is an Excel spreadheet. In the Actiona GUI the Multi data input widget can be set...

Re: Command Prompt line

There might be simpler methods I have not yet explored but this is what I do .. 1. Create a var containing string .. e.g. cmd = "echo 'Hello World' " 2. Launch terminal window .. in Ubuntu the command is simply gnome-terminal 3. Copy var (string) into clipboard 4. Paste var into gnome-terminal 5. Hi...
